March of Paradigms Reviews The Hangover:

you actually made me curious enough to see it….

michaelorell:

I went to see the Hangover this weekend because I’m all man. It was quick, funny and painless. I like Vegas and plus (is ‘and plus’ redundant? Whatever) I’m typically that friend who no one can find the next day. There’s slapstick shtick for the popcorn-heads as well as your more beautiful subtle non-sequitors from Galifinakis. I really like Bradley Cooper. But mainly because of his role on The WBs criminally underrated Jack & Bobby where he played the quick-witted Grad Student to (fellow U of Michigan alumni) Christina Lahtis angry disillusioned professor. And he and his hair were pitch-perfect for this role. Ed Helms convinced me he is a hooker-marrying dentist in real life (IRL) and Galifinakis was Galifinakis (and what hasn’t been said about him?). I also saw UP last week. And Art Brut. I also bought a t-shirt. Back to The Hangover. Vegas is so Vegas. And if you do it right you can only do it for two nights. Outside of the expensive-looking opening sequence shots of the strip and hotels and on-beat fountain geyserings it was more the concept of Vegasness that drove the picture rather than the locale. There are barely any shots inside of casinos or strip clubs or Foster’s front yard or anything like that. It’s more about a male-heavy mindset and fuck-it-dude-let’s-just-take-that-limo-to-The-Deuce mentality of being wasted in Vegas. Vegas is one of the things I miss most about LA. Vegas and (Tess Lynch-approved) Bay Cities. I just would never have a Bachelor Party there.
